ARTIST STATEMENT:
My work goes through phases of obliteration and rebirth. There is an evident history within my ambiguous pieces that focuses on this creative process all while representing a reflection of my inner thoughts and emotional well-being.
I am influenced by the roots of abstract expressionism, pop art, avant-garde, and the here-and-now. I play with the idea of art through the use of recycling and incorporating non-traditional materials. Glass, wood, plastic, fabric, and beyond have been integrated in my art. Thoughtful, quick actions are a staple for me as I appreciate the immediacy. I am inspired by words, dialogue, philosophy, and poetry.
Finding the beauty in the unsettling, the wonder in the grotesque, and the language of the material are all themes I touch on. I am not at all concerned with perfection, but the hand of the artist and the healing power of the creative process.
