ARTIST STATEMENT:
My work goes through phases of obliteration and rebirth. It’s through this process that is the foundation of my creation. There is an evident history within my ambiguous pieces that hones in on this creative process all while representing a reflection of my inner thoughts and emotional well-being.
I am influenced by the roots of abstract expressionism, pop art, avant-garde, and the here-and-now. I play with the idea of art through the use of recycling and incorporating non-traditional materials. Glass, wood, plastic, fabric, and beyond have been integrated in my art. Thoughtful, quick actions are a staple for me as I appreciate the immediacy. I am inspired by words, dialogue, philosophy, and poetry.
Finding the beauty in the unsettling, the wonder in the grotesque, and the language of the material are all themes I touch on. I am not at all concerned with perfection, but the hand of the artist and the healing power of the creative process.
